Gözde graduated from Koc University as a bachelor of Molecular Biology & Genetics and Psychology. She enjoyed learning about applied social psychology and research methods the most. In her independent study, she researched the effect of sexist language in TV shows, on gender stereotypes. The best part of her undergraduate years was KUVolunteers. Through the student club, she worked with school children to raise their confidence and awareness of social issues, and had the opportunity of travelling to different parts of Turkey and meeting students of local schools.
Apart from her internship at TEGV, she gained experience at research labs working on areas such as developmental psychology, social interaction, and molecular neurobiology. She received her master’s degree in Social and Cultural Psychology at London School of Economics. For her thesis, she analysed drawings of school children to understand how they perceive girls’ and boys’ toys. Gözde’s interest in education began with her volunteering experience, and she started her career at ERG as a researcher.
Gözde believes that understanding how the human mind works and an education system that takes this into account is key in the solution of social issues. She likes to paint and do yoga, spend time with loved ones and is curious about anything that has to do with humans.
